PIRATES’ winger Denis Etucket was very frustrated and could not hold back emotions over his team’s 11-6 loss to Kobs in the second round of the Nile Special rugby league at Legends Kampala Rugby Club on Saturday despite winning the man-of-the-match accolade.

“It’s rare to be man-of-the-match when your team has lost the game because all players would love to win it but it doesn’t make sense to celebrate while your team lost the four points you came for,” Etucket sounded his disappointment

He further explained how he was let down by the ball handling error when he squandered an open chance and dropped the ball in the try area that could have handed his side victory in the 70th minute.

“We gave in all we could but we could not score. However as a finisher I feel very bad dropping that ball that could have earned us a win,” Etucket could hardly conceal his frustration.

Anthony Kinene and Kevin Mackmot scored two penalties each for Pirates and Kobs respectively, and ended the first half 6-6 before Justin Kimono scored the winning try in the second.

At Kyadondo Rugby Club,a try by Paul Sserunjogi, two tries by Bishop Onen and another two by Evans Kingasia were enough to hand Heathens a bonus point against hard-fighting Entebbe Mongers.

Heathens now with 34points reduce the point gap to three after Kobs (37points) failed to secure a bonus point against Pirates.

The league continues this coming Saturday with Heathens hosting Pirates and Kobs entertaining Mongers in a game they must win with a bonus point.
