ThERE is unease amongst KCC FC fans following appointment of a new club chairman by Kampala City Council Authority.

Michael Okuwa, who heads KCCA’s legal department, was Thursday announced as the new KCC FC boss to the anguish of many of the fans who protested that the club’s constitution had been breached.

KCC’s constitution stipulates that the city authority shall present the club with a list of senior employees from whom the fans shall elect a chairman.

“That has not been done. A chairman is instead being imposed on us,” complained the fans at a meeting called by their coordinator Livingstone Mulindwa at Lugogo Thursday.

The fans hold a 40% stake in the club while the rest is held by KCCA.

KCCA’s move followed a leadership vacuum after Chairman Bakka Musujja’s resignation last year.

John Mutenda, a vice chairman in the Musujja executive, called for calm and asked the fans to formally raise their issues with KCCA.

“What you should realize is that the club is recovering. We no longer have salary arrears. We should thus acknowledge what KCCA is doing,” noted Mutenda who also called for respect of managers Ahmed Kabuye and Patrick Tamale who have been in charge of the club since Musujja’s exit.

The fans also urged Mulindwa not to over load himself with club duties. “We appreciate all you are doing but please put in place a committee to assist you.”

Meanwhile, Fire Masters head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe has faith his side will overcome Hoima-Busia Friday.
