Mbarara Rally rolls off in style

COMING off season, competitors in the Pine Ridge Mbarara Rally will be delighted at the opportunity to shed off rust in the super special stage in Masaka this morning.

COMING off season, competitors in the Pine Ridge Mbarara Rally will be delighted at the opportunity to shed off rust in the super special stage in Masaka this morning.

Cars will be flagged of at Brovad Hotel in Masaka today 9am and they head for the 4km Pine Ridge double track circuit atop Bwala hill where they will tackle two runs which count towards the overall race.

Clerk of course David Nsobya expects a bumper entry of 40 crews to be through with the super special stage by 3pm and cars will head to Mbarara for a night stopover.

Drivers have been given two hour and 30 minutes for a 130-km distance from Masaka to Mbarara to ensure they observe traffic regulations.

On Sunday cars will be flagged off at Lake View Resort Hotel in Mbarara at 8am and they will head to Bushenyi district administration where the second leg will get underway at 9am.

Competitive sections will start with the 26- km Bushenyi-Rwentuha section followed by the 16.4km Nyamirima-Kitojo stage in Bushenyi. After service, drivers will enter the Kashaka-Bwizibwera (22.2km) and immediately connect to the Bwizibwera-Kyamugorani (25.1km).

The race will wind up with extremely fast 46.3km Kyeibega-Biharwe 46.3km anticipated to make or break front runners.
