If there are any lingering doubts about the impending marriage between Toro Princess Komuntale Nsemere and her American prince charming Christopher Thomas, a sh16m ring has put the matter to bed.

Thomas, at his romantic best, went on bended knee, brandished the ring that’s cut out of crystals of white pure diamond whose sparkle occasionally flashes like a shooting star.

By the time he popped the question, Komuntale, like any girl in love, was overwhelmed in emotion by the fairytale moment. She wept. Her knees got wobbly. When she recovered from the trance, she engaged in a photo shoot session to eternally freeze this moment.

Close friends to the princess and the prince charming say the romantic ceremony took place early last week while the two had gone out for a romantic dinner in Washington DC.

“When Chris placed the sparkling ring into her finger, the Sunday that followed found the couple kneeling before God in a church in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Saint Louis is a very sentimental town to Chris who is so close to his American roots. We have learnt that the sparkle in the engagement ring shone a light that transformed Komuntale, who has changed her perception of life, love and Christopher Thomas; it is a good life when you find a love prince willing to bring you a star and put it on your finger.

She cannot see herself living without Thomas. The friends say she has openly declared that she would rather denounce her royal status as a Batebe (Princess) if she was asked to choose between the two.
Introduction ceremony

Sources in Toro Kingdom have revealed that preparations for the introduction ceremony are in high gear.

According to family sources, Princess Komuntale will officially introduce Christopher Thomas to a selected committee of royal members sometime in June at her uncles’ home in Gweri village, a few kilometers from Fort Portal town. The month of June is special to the couple because it is the month in which Christopher was born.

The decision to have the function organized by selected royal members was reached at after some royal elders advised on the implications of hosting the ceremony in the palace. The elders say tradition doesn’t allow for a Toro princess to marry a non Mutooro.

Toro Kingdom has three royal homes; one in Munyoyo another in Muyenga and the last one is in Booma, a few meters from Fort Portal town.

The locals of Gweri village where the function is going to be held are considering the event as a historical moment in their village.

“On that day, we shall sit by the roadside the whole day until we see that man who is taking our daughter to America,” a one mzee Ndora.
