UGANDA Cranes coach announced his team that will spearhead Uganda Cranes first 2013 World Cup qualifier against Congo-Brazaville on February 29 without pivotal team captain Ibrahim Sekagya and dependable left back Nestroy Kizito.

Sekagya and Kizito are the only names missing among 24 players Coach Bobby Williamson has summoned for training starting February 20.

Red Bull Salzburg defender Sekagya has reported injury while club-less Cranes left-back Kizito has requested Williamson to exclude him from the squad because he reportedly needs a rest from the team.

“I have talked to all the players and Sekagya said that he is injured. Kizito has asked for time to be rest,” Williamson said this morning.

In the absence of Sekagya, Andy Mwesigwa is expected to step in his shoes while Habib Kavuma (APR) and home based Godfrey Walusimbi (Bunamwaya) could take up Kizito’s place.

Kizito’s ambitions to join Scottish side St. Mirren hit a snag. Kizito is a free agent since parting ways with Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade in November 2011.

A surprise inclusion on the squad is Sweden based midfielder Martin Mutumba (AIK), who has secured his first call for the Cranes.

The team starts training on February 20 ahead ofthe game on 29th. Meanwhile another squad of 23 mainly home based players will start training on Saturday for a friendly against South Sudan on February 16.

The match is expected to be part of South Sudan’s celebrations to mark their expected acceptance of their Confederations of African Football (CAF) membership. The CAF Congress sitting in Gabon this weekend.
