Shock gripped born-again Christians of Deliverance Power Church in Luweero town when a 26-year old man who was undergoing healing, collapsed dead inside the church.

Isaac Lubega, a resident of Namukago village in neighboring Nakasongola District, died at around 1am Wednesday morning during prayer time.

The cause of his collapse to death has not been established yet, but the Luweero district CID officer said police had launched investigations into the matter.

A few days before his emotionally confusing end, Lubega was brought to the church by his mother to be healed from what she believed were demons.

Hundreds of eager residents flocked the shanty church Wednesday morning to steal a glimpse of the deceased body. Police later took the body to Kasana mortuary at about 7am. The church is located in Kizito zone, Luweero district.

Just like everyone in the area, a saddened Prophet Steven Yiga, leader of the church, said Lubega was brought to his church by his mother after he developed a mental problem which the prophet associated with demons.

“We prayed for him and he had healed, but the demons attacked him again. It is sad that I have lost a church member,” he said this at Luweero police station where he had gone to make a statement.

Yiga, who claims to be a breakaway pastor of Samuel Kakande’s Mulago-based Synagogue of all Nations, claims he has powers to heal all ailments.
