George Lubinga, a former member of the Uganda National Congress who lived in Kibuye near Kampala, was jailed for four months after he failed to pay a fine of sh350 imposed by the Kibuga Magistrate’s Court after he was convicted on charges of embezzlement.

The court was told that Lubinga, who described himself as a politician, embezzled sh223/85 which he had collected from the people on behalf of the editor of the Obugagga David W. Kiwanuka.

The money was for meeting fines imposed on the editor after being convicted on a charge of defaming the Omukama of Bunyoro.
