TEAM finishing is the national women coach Magidah Nantanda’s major challenge as the senior women soccer team entered camp at Kavumba Recreation Centre in Wakiso yesterday.

The squad is preparing for the preliminary qualifying round first leg of the eighth All Africa Women soccer championships due January 14 at Nakivubo stadium.

Nantanda watched helplessly as her charges were beaten by an Edgars select in two friendly games. Edgars used the friendly games as part of their preparations for their due campaign for qualification for the Kampala division one league this year.

Though happy with their speed and reaction, Nantanda was not convinced with the shooting power, which is most needed for the team in their oncoming challenge.

“They are still lackluster. They try to do everything but shooting is still a big problem. We have to sharpen that aspect. The good thing is the marched the men’s speed and fitness which was a great improvement,” said Nantanda.

Nantanda was also excited about the confidence of deadball specialist Stella Nassuna Kaliba, who scored from a direct free kick.

In camp to lead the attack are Fatuma Luwedde, Hadijjah Nampijja, Dorothy Nakato, Sylvia Nakazibwe and Sandra Nabweteme.

Destined for the midfield are Naome Nagadya, Rita Nakiriggya, Sylvia Nagawa, Tracy Okiror, Rita Kivumbi, Joyce Mwebaza, Christine Nambirigge and Memory Nampijja.

The defenders are Christine Wanyana, Nassuna Kaliba, Shamim Nantege, Charlotte Binsiima, Gladys Nakitto, Zaina Namukasa and Mary Babirye.

Goalkeepers are Fatuma Namatovu, Alex Nanyonga and Harriet Haya.
