UGANDA Super League has called for a club meeting to discuss Mujib Kasule and his role as the vice president in charge of the Uganda Super League.

An insider has told New Vision Online that in the meeting USL plans to convince the clubs to ensure that Kasule’s office as vice president in charge of the super league is just ceremonial. The meeting is set for January 7.

Appointment of Kasule, also director of super league club Proline FC as FUFA vice president was not received well by the top managers of the League.

This was especially soon after clubs also convinced him to take up the post as their representative on the Jinja Declaration Committee, replacing Kavuma Kabenge.

Kabenge is the chairman of Uganda Super League Limited, the body that runs the top flight soccer league in the country.

However, another meeting later named Livingstone Lajan and Tom Lwanga as their representative on the committee.

According to a circular, USL/169/2011, to all the chairmen and secretaries of USL clubs, signed signed by the chief executive Ebil Segawa, the discussion of Kasule and his role as FUFA vice president in charge of USL will be the major item on the agenda.

“Pursuant to Articles 17.1 and 18.2 of the USLL Memorandum and Articles of Association, notice is hereby given that there will be a General Meeting on Saturday 7th January, 2012 at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel starting at 11.00am,” read part of the circular mailed to club heads. FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa by the powers vested in him by the constitution appointed Kasule to the position of vice president.

It had earlier been deemed that USL chairman Kavuma Kabenge would automatically be the vice president as per the Jinja Declaration.

FIFA official Ashford Mamelodi advised that the constitution takes precedence over all other rules governing football.
