FUFA has moved to avert a refereeing crisis by assuring that they will soon be paid their arrears. The referees had threatened to boycott the second round of the Super League because of accumulated wage arrears.

The second round kicks off next Friday.
As if to justify their threat, the referees refused to honour a fitness test last Sunday, saying they were tired of promises for months. They have not been paid since the last season’s second round.

However, the referees committee secretary Yusuf Kamulegeya said that arrangements were underway to clear the referees bills. He said the test that flopped on Sunday will be rescheduled.
