We exclusively broke the news that former American heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield was coming to Uganda for a show-down with World Federation heavyweight champion, South African Francois Botha in January 2010.

Now we have learnt that the cash-strapped pugilist has pulled out of the show which was scheduled for February 20, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

There is no official confirmation from promoter Eddie Bazira and his Sweden-based promotional outfit Baltic Pro Box.

But Ken Sanders, Holyfield’s representative, has confided in our US-based snoops that they waited for three months for the first installment of the payment but none came.

Holyfield, who is desperately in need of cash, is now tentatively scheduled to fight in the US on March 6 and
April 24.
