GETTING eight out of eight in Senior Four can leave anyone excited but not John Michael Kyeyune of St Mary’s College Kisubi.

The 17-year-old, who The New Vision traced to the kitchen of City Parents School in Rubaga, was not bothered and just went on with his work.

Despite getting the results from a relative in the morning, few of his workmates knew about the good news until in the afternoon when the reporter arrived at the scene.

“I am happy. It was team work that yielded this result,” he said, forcing a smile as he went on arranging the plates, baking chapatis and serving the children their evening
tea.

He looked so serious and free, like a doctor preparing for an operation. It is no wonder that it is the profession he wants to pursue after his advanced level studies.

The star wants to do biology, chemistry and mathematics.

Kyeyune has worked at the school throughout his vacation. He was happy with the challenges at work and said they had helped him to taste the real world.

“I attended school here and got aggregate four in primary seven. I decided to come back and do some voluntary work in senior two but towards the end, they decided to take me on part-time. I have learnt to deal with people and control my life,” he said.

“Sometimes, the children are annoying but you have to learn to deal with them,” Kyeyune said.

He noted that the lack of trained medical workers had forced him to love the profession as a way of saving life.

“I want to go in there and change the system so that it benefits the common man,” he said, adding that he also wanted to have his degree from either Makerere University or abroad.
