DEFENDER Tony Ndolo scored the all important goal with just minutes to the final whistle as 10-man SC Villa beat Arua Central 1-0 in the Uganda Super League at Namboole yesterday.

Ndolo rose at the near post to brush home Simeon Masaba’s corner five minutes to the end of a highly charged but entertaining match.

Elsewhere, Nalubaale FC were also lucky to disentangle themselves from visiting Kinyara with a 2-1 victory.

It was a big relief to the few Villa fans that had watched in disbelief playmaker Crizestom Ntambi being red-carded for slapping Arua goalkeeper Sijali Safi. Ntambi, who had just replaced the ineffective Jonathan Aigbe upfront, had seen Safi foil his scoring chance on this occasion.

The win lifted the Jogoos to fourth place in the standings with 32 points, just above their rivals KCC FC (31).

Arua had a lot of possession that the West Nile side failed to translate into goals.

At Nakivubo, Charles Tibangana scored late to earn maximum points for Nalubaale. Razaka Ewatu had given the home side an early lead but Jimmy Nyakaana equalised for the game to go into half time at 1-1.
