University associations are a setback

EDITOR—The emerging tribal associations at various public universities in Uganda are posing a serious underground problem to the revival of the East African Community.

EDITOR—The emerging tribal associations at various public universities in Uganda are posing a serious underground problem to the revival of the East African Community.

This is because sowing the seeds of ideal democracy for future generations requires immediate action across East Africa. This can mainly be done by the few gallant intellectuals at the helm.

The past mistakes made by leaders like Idi Amin should not be repeated. The so-called associations at Makerere and other universities show a glaring weakness as we strive for regional integration and uniting Africa as a whole.
