SAVINGS and Credit Cooperatives Organisations (SACCOs) in Kampala have been trained on how to manage and use funds.

Organised and facilitated by the finance ministry under the Rural Financial Services Programme, the workshop brought together SACCOs from Kampala’s five divisions.

Henry Mbaguta, the assistant commissioner for microfinance in the finance ministry, said the training was also aimed at building capacities and strengthening SACCos operations.

“Several people had made SACCOs avenues to rob individuals. That is why we had to train members,” he said.

The workshop also introduce members to the new microfinance plan for Kampala district regarding SACCOs, Mbaguta added.
