THE Police in Kasese are holding a 48 year-old man suspected of defiling three girls.

Baluku Basaliza, a resident of Kasenyi fishing village in Kasese district is alleged to have defiled girls aged 12 and one aged 11 last week.

The victims said Baluku used a panga to open the door to the house in which the three girls were sleeping.

They added that the suspect was drunk and threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm. He then defiled them in turns.

Speaking to journalists last week, the Kasese district criminal investigations officer, Abas Ssenyonjo, said one of the girls was from a different home whose parents had gone for a burial.

The girl, on reaching home ,informed her parents of the incident and they reported the matter to the Police.

Ssenyonjo said medical reports confirmed that the three girls were defiled and the alleged defiler is HIV-positive.

He blamed the incident on the parents who left their children alone at home and also accused some parents of conniving with defilers with intent of getting money from them, adding that any parent caught trying to negotiate a defilement case out of court would be arrested.

However, Ssenyonjo said defilement cases had reduced in the district in the last four months.
