PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has received a special message from his French counterpart, Nicholas Sarkozy, proposing the development of infrastructure in the Great Lakes region.

During talks with the French Ambassador, Christian Connan, who delivered the message, Museveni said Uganda supports the idea of developing the infrastructure, especially in the roads and energy sectors.

The meeting took place at State House, Entebbe on Friday.

“The President said he welcomes the idea of a conference to raise funds for the development of the infrastructure sector as well as making good use of the energy capabilities in the region.

“He observed that most of the resources are still untapped,” read a press release from State House.

Museveni said Uganda has a lot of agricultural potential and encouraged entrepreneurs from France and other European countries to invest in the sector.

The ambassador noted that once this is achieved, it will stabilise the economies of the countries in the Great Lakes region.
