Lwakataka to take off first in KCB Pearl Rally

TUESDAY-FORMER Uganda National Motor rally champion Ponsiano Lwakataka will be flagged off first in the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally this weekend.

TUESDAY-FORMER Uganda National Motor rally champion Ponsiano Lwakataka will be flagged off first in the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally this weekend.

A provisional start-list released by Clerk of course Stephen Byaruhanga explained that Lwakataka was placed ahead of the field on account of leading the 2010 Uganda National Championship.

African champion Jamie Whyte of Zimbabwe will take off second while Rwandan Davite Giancarlo will hit the road third.

Uganda national champion Ronald Ssebuguzi who will drive a newly acquired Mitsubishi Evo9 is in fourth position while Jas Mangat takes fifth.

The 1999 African champion Charles Muhangi is sixth in the race that has 21 drivers from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Zimbabwe .

The event will start with a super special stage at Lubiri circuit in Kampala on Friday.

On Saturday competitors will tackle 12 competitive stages in Luwero District, 60-km North of Kampala.

The 12 stages in Luwero will be repeated in the final leg on Sunday.
