THE Government is to come up with a law to regulate traditional healers, the health state minister has said.

Richard Nduhuura said this would enable the Government to crackdown the masqueraders.

Speaking at the closing of a one-day workshop on natural products, he said the regulations would protect the practitioners and their clients from cheating one another.

“There will be a national council for traditional health practitioners, which will formulate to the code of conduct and monitor the group’s adherence,” he said. Nduhura said the law is expected to be in place by October.

Of late, traditional healers have been referred to as witchdoctors, creating a negative impression towards their work and products.
