Class monitor
Security minister Amama Mbabazi will never cease to amuse. Recently, he arrived early for the public accounts committee (PAC) meeting and was surprised that MPs who had for long exhibited enthusiasm to grill him had not showed up. He then constituted himself into a class monitor. He started roll-calling journalists by their media houses. He asked those who were not attached to any of the media houses he had mentioned to stand up and identify themselves. He then turned to security guards and MPs. He did the roll-call until the committee started its business. Well done, Mr Class Monitor.

Kasamba pleads
The chairperson of the parliamentary defence committee, Mathias Kasamba, last week pleaded with officials from Prisons, Police and ministry of internal affairs to “help him” eat the snacks that had been prepared for the committee. This was after the meeting had flopped due to the absence of internal affairs ministers. Since the eats had already been paid for, Kasamba thought it unfair to let them go to waste. He said: “As we adjourn, these services cannot be left here. Kindly, help me to give them a fair touch to avoid wastage of taxpayer’s money.” However, the officials declined the offer, giving an opportunity to some journalists to do the needful.

Kamuntu explains
Before inviting the President to speak at the launch of the National Development Plan, state minister for planning Ephraim Kamuntu said he was going to heap praises on him. He, however, explained to his boss: “If I do it, some people will accuse me of sycophancy. If I don’t do it you could accuse me of insubordination. I need moderation.” Then he went on to say how great President Museveni was.

Good Samaritan
MP Loi Kiryapawo is a true leader. Recently, the Parliament messengers chose to absent themselves from work and Kiryapawo decided to do their work. MPs were debating a motion on climate change and global warming. Chief whip Daudi Migereko demanded that all MPs be given copies of the motion. Usually, it is the messengers who distribute such copies but on this day they were no where to be seen. Kiryapawo, like any good Samaritan went out and brought the copies and distributed to her fellow parliamentarians. Great leader!
