UGANDAN rugby was given some homework to think about over the weekend, when their second side Victoria fell 20-3 to Kenya’s Cheetahs in the semi final of the Bamburi Super Series in Nairobi on Saturday.

The result means that Uganda will once again watch the final from the sidelines since the inception of the tournament. Ugandan sides have never progressed beyond the last four of the event.
Another Ugandan side Rwenzori could not make it out of the group stages in this year’s edition.

In Nairobi, Nato Simiyu, Kevin Umbuga and Kevin Gsore scored tries for Cheetahs and Mike Mugo had a conversion and a penalty to give the home side victory. Simon Wakabi scored Victoria’s consolation penalty.

“It was a good game but the referee let us down,” Victoria captain Timothy Ddumba stated.

Victoria claimed referee John Bosco Mwamba denied them a try by Faizal Gama after he won the ball from Simiyu. They also claimed that Mwamba awarded Cheetahs a first half try from a held up ball.

But Ddumba also observed that his side was slow and also failed to execute some chances that came their way.
