THE Inspector General of Government (IGG) has asked the High Court to quash the pending interim order issued against prosecuting suspended National Forestry Authority (NFA) boss Damian Akankwasa.

Akankwasa recently secured an interim order from the High Court blocking the IGG from prosecuting him over causing financial loss of over sh2b.

Akankwasa is also facing charges of illicit enrichment in connection with a guest house worth sh580m on Plot 11 on St. Balikuddembe Road in Naguru, a Kampala suburb.

According to the IGG, Akankwasa’s wealth is not proportional to his income.

The inspectorate said Akankwasa caused the loss of sh2b when he flouted procurement regulations and he awarded more than 100,000 cubic metres of round wood for harvest at sh62,500, instead of sh82,500, to Nile Plywood Uganda Limited.
