THE last time he appeared on this page, businessman Frank Gashumba had offered a bull to Makerere College School and we wondered what he was up to. Lately, snoops have sighted the Mali Group MD cruising around town in a brand new Toyota Kluger model 2008.

The 4WD SUV, described as the ‘most fuel efficient Toyota SUV ever produced,’ should have set Gashumba back by at least $40,000 (about sh90m) minus taxes and freight.
This car, which is the smaller version of a Toyota V8 but is ranked above the latest Rav 4, is a rare sight in town because the official importers of Toyota in town do not import it.
It has a keyless entry, push start button, electrically-heated leather seats and a reverse camera. The car also has a six CD changer with DVD and satellite navigation plus a tilt and slide sunroof.
Rumour has it that Gashumba, who already owns a fleet of luxury vehicles uses it for frequent trips to Rwanda. But speculation is also rife that he wants to become MP for the new Kalungu West constituency.
