MAKERERE University vice-chancellor Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba escaped on Tuesday when his vehicle knocked a goat and overturned on the Mbarara-Masaka highway.

Police commander Vincent Irama said Baryamureeba was heading to Kampala from Mbarara.

He said the accident took place at around 6:00pm at Koranorya after Makenke barracks.

Two other people were travelling with Baryamureeba; his bodyguard Michael Kilama and Hussein Muhairwe, the driver.

Irama said the vice-chancellor did not get serious injury, but his driver and bodyguard were admitted at Mayanja Hospital and were recovering.

Baryamureeba was driven to Kampala in another car after the accident, the officer said. He warned drivers against speeding.
