RUTHLESS bowling in the final session of the three-day trial game between a Uganda XI against Kenya A turned what had looked a certain draw into a 166-run win for the hosts.

Frank Nsubuga took a remarkable 5-45 in a dra¬matic spell for the Ugandan bowlers as they dismissed the visitors, whose batsmen had to at least play through the final session of the third day to be sure of avoiding defeat.

Denis Tabi got another two wickets for Uganda while Davis Arinaitwe and Charles Waiswa took one apiece.

Having retired for lunch at 48-1, that was not entirely undoable for the Kenyans – who begun their second innings need¬ing 360 to win.

Midway through the morning session, Uganda had declared at 410 after reaching 156/3 in their second innings and stretching their overall lead to 359.

Uganda’s openers Roger Mukasa and Arthur Kyobe scored 65 and 80 respectively to put their team in a posi¬tion to thrust the pressure back on Kenya. Tomorrow, the Kenyans will take on Uganda’s U-19 side.
