GRANTED, the show was free-of-charge. Nonetheless, he reportedly holds the record for the biggest crowd at a concert for a solo act in Uganda.

An excess of 45,000 people turned up to see him perform at the Passion Kampala Concert at Makerere University Sports Grounds in 2006. His second concert at the same venue last year was also well attended, drawing a reported 12,000 people.

This is Papa San, a renowned Jamaican Gospel star and the fastest lyrical speaking DJ. He is now a fully-ordained reverend, Tyrone Thompson.

He will also perform at the two-day Kampala Love Festival at Kololo Aistrip this weekend. As usual, he will be accompanied by his team of about six instrumentalists and vocalists from the US.

Isaac Rucci of Fishnext, the producer in charge of the show gospel artistes like Pastor Wilson Bugembe and Exodus will perform at the do.

Papa San, who started off as a secular dancehall artiste before crossing over to gospel music, was raised by his Rastafarian grandmother and lived a thuggish life until till he turned to Christianity in 1997.

He lives in Weston, Florida, US and has five children. His musician brother, Dirtsman, was murdered in 1993.

So, throw gospel music diva Nicole C Mullen and dance hall star Papa San in one mix and you will have what promises to be one of the biggest gospel dos of the year. Don’t miss this for anything in the world folks.
