Heyzme Nansubuga was crowned Miss Uganda 2010/11 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala last Saturday. The 25-year-old beauty queen, from Jinja district, will represent Uganda in Miss World 2010 in Sanya, China on October 30.

What inspired you to join the contest?
I have a passion for the youth and the less privileged. I believe I can reach them through this platform.
What are your expectations?
I want to be famous, which fame I have already started experiencing.
Do you think you are the genuine winner?
Yes, I am. The organisers started judging us the day we were unveiled to the public, even before the camp. We were being observed while in the camp at Kisubi Beach; I was told I scored highly so why wouldn’t I be a genuine winner? Anyway, people are entitled to their opinion.
At 25, you must be married or engaged?
No, I am not yet ready.
But you are seeing somebody?
Let that be private.
How is your love life?
I cannot have a love life when I do not have a boyfriend. I have little to say about love.
What is your greatest fear about love?
I fear being hurt.
describe your ideal husband
He must be God-fearing, hardworking, honest and kind-hearted.
Is there such a man?
Why not? With God everything is possible.
What will you do as Miss Uganda?
I am representing Uganda at the Miss World pageant in moral, cultural and social aspects. That is why the tag line says, ‘Beauty with Purpose.’
