750 graduate from Bishop Stuart in Mbarara

A total of 751 students were awarded diplomas and degrees at Bishop Stuart University Kakoba in Mbarara on Friday. The graduands included 354 women and 397 men. George Muganga received the university’s first PhD in business and development studies.

A total of 751 students were awarded diplomas and degrees at Bishop Stuart University Kakoba in Mbarara on Friday. The graduands included 354 women and 397 men. George Muganga received the university’s first PhD in business and development studies.

Three customer service executives with Vision Group’s Radio West, Sheila Tushemerirwe, Jolly Namara and Gloria Musimenta, received degrees in social work and social administration.

The university also welcomed its third chancellor, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigye, who is also the Bishop of Ankole Diocese. The 6th graduation ceremony was presided over by the education minister, Geraldine Bitamazire.

She urged universities to balance science and technology with arts, noting that humanities help in transforming the community. Bitamazire appealed to universities to join the prosperity-For-All programme, saying they needed educated people to run the programme.

She urged the graduands to live exemplary lives and avoid getting involved in corruption. The minister added that the Government was committed to supporting private universities and tertiary institutions.
