THE Ultimate Challenge Race lived up to its billing as the majority of crews faltered on the new track with the exception of Ronald Ssebuguzi who put up a flawless display to win the race.

Ssebuguzi in a Mitsubishi Evo9 clocked four minutes 31 seconds, beating Edson Munghereza who surpassed expectations to squeeze into second position by six seconds.

National champion Nasser Mutebi, Wycliff Bukenya, Godfrey Lubega, Charles Muhangi and Ponsiano Lwakataka were all either dogged by mechanical conditions or veered off the 2.6km tricky double track at the Uganda Motorsport Arena at Busiika in Luwero.

“It was an interesting race that required both skill and caution. I enjoyed the race they way I used to do at the old Garuga. I am glad I have made my mark in the inaugural race,” Ssebuguzi commented.

The race that had 27 drivers was preceded by an Enduro motorcycling race that Unissan Bakunda won.
