THE Police in Mbarara have arrested Tony Byaruhanga, 36, a resident of Mutajaza in Kibuli, a Kampala suburb, suspected to have been terrorising people and stealing their vehicles.

Five vehicles, all alleged to have been stolen by Byaruhanga, were recovered in Gulu district. All the cars are said to have been stolen from the western region.

The south-western region Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, said the vehicles belonged to people from the districts of Ibanda, Kabale, Rukungiri, Mbarara and Bushenyi.

“They were all used for special hire,” Namaye said.

By the time of arrest, Byaruhanga had allegedly sold the four Coronas and one Primo at sh2m each.

Namaye said the owners of the Coronas had claimed the cars, but added that the Police was still looking for the owner of Primo UAL 043G.

She said the Police believed that Byaruhanga was working with other thugs and called on the public to help with the investigations.

The owners of the vehicles thanked the Police for tracing their cars and urged the Government to pass tough laws to deter car robbers.
