VETERANS have signed a deal with Dubai-based security group to recruit over 1,000 Ugandans to work in the oil-rich Gulf state.

Under the Uganda Veterans Development Ltd, the veterans will supply guards and other workers to Falcons Security Services.

The Ugandans will work at government and private facilities such as hotels, airports and supermarkets, said Rtd. Brig. Chris Mudoola, the group’s boss.

Emmanuel Otaala, the labour state minister, recently revealed that the United Arab Emirates government wanted to recruit 50,000 Ugandans to work as guards.

Mudoola said the workers would be trained in Dubai after signing three-year contracts. They will earn $600 per month.

He said other guards would be sent to Qatar where they will work under Eagle Hunter Solution Limited.

Uganda has been sending thousands of guards mostly to Iraq and Afghanstan.
