BUDADIRI West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi (FDC) may be a popular legislator but it was the sniffer dog, which paved way for his procession during nominations at Sironko town council, which drew the public’s attention.

The chained dog draped in Mafabi’s poster, sniffed of the dusty tarmac amid cheering and ululations of FDC supporters.

“Al shabaab, Al shabaab,” some of the residents screamed in apparent reference to dog’s assumed role in containing terrorist threats during nominations.

Following closely behind the dog with brooms, frantic FDC fans swept the road while chanting, “Simuula obucafu, simula ebisiraani (Dust off the litter, dust off the curses.)”

Mafabi will tussle it out in Budadiri West with and the Minister for the Presidency, Beatrice Wabudeya, who is currently the Sironko Woman MP.

Their race has been viewed as a battle of egos and will determine who enjoys the most popularity in Bugisu sub-region.
