A total of 70,000 LC1 and LC2 chairpersons will get bicycles next year.The distribution will start on January 9 and end on February 28, the state minister for local government, Pereza Ahabwe, said on Saturday.

A total of 70,000 LC1 and LC2 chairpersons will get bicycles next year.The distribution will start on January 9 and end on February 28, the state minister for local government, Pereza Ahabwe, said on Saturday.
The contract to supply the bicycles was awarded to Amman Industrial Tools and Equipment.
Ahabwe said the bicycles would enable the leaders to monitor government programmes. “Local councils are mandated to monitor the activities of civil servants and mobilise people to engage in developmental projects but they can’t do it if they are not facilitated,†he said.
