THE cost of the 250MW Bujagali Hydropower Project will remain at $860b and not reach the $1b mark, project stakeholders have clarified.

THE cost of the 250MW Bujagali Hydropower Project will remain at $860b and not reach the $1b mark, project stakeholders have clarified.
“This is because there is a contingency sum provided for within the overall project costs to cater for changes in price,†a source familiar with the dam financial operations said.
The clarification allayed fears that the project costs would go above the $1b as the multi-donor funded project encountered poor ground conditions which required extra work to ensure the integrity of the dam. The project is expected to be fully commissioned by April 2012.
