THE parliamentary committee on local government accounts has recommended the suspension of the Kabarole Chief Administrative Officer, Siriri Kwemara, for being in office illegally.
Richard Mutumba reports that Rwampara MP Amon-Reeves Kabareebe, who chaired the proceedings, recommended the suspension and handed Kwemara to the CID personnel attached to the committee.
The MPs said Kwemara had no proper qualifications for holding that office. He was the district’s chief personnel officer before being elevated by the district chairperson to acting CAO.
MPs had earlier queried officials of the district over the illegal transfer of sh1.44b from the district’s general fund account to the operational account.
The Parliamentary committee was scrutinising the report of the Auditor General on the district accounts for the financial year ending June 30, 1999.
