ThE Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Zoe Bakoko Bakoru, has advised farmers in Arua district to use their profits from tobacco for economic transformation, reports Ahmed Angulibo.

“Money from tobacco has not changed the lives of our people. Most of the money is spent on drinking. There is need for transformation in villages,” Bakoru said.

Bakoru’s call followed a recent statement by Arua RDC Thomas Okoth Nyalulu that residents had taken up drinking.

Nyalulu was briefing the National Political Commissar, Crispus Kiyonga who was on a tour of the district.

Kiyonga said the Government gets sh17b annually from tabacco grown in Arua district.
