A three-year-old child who was recently defiled is fighting for her life at Mulago hospital.
She was abused by a man in his 20s.
The child, from Katulaga, Jandira village in Mpigi, is admitted in ward 5A and due for surgery after doctors found pus oozing out of her birth canal.
It is suspected that her uterus was damaged and had started rotting.
The operation initially scheduled for Wednesday was delayed because she developed a high fever, making the surgery a risky venture.
The mother on Thursday said the child was raped last week while the parents worked in the garden. She had been left with her siblings at home.
She said when they returned home they found the child crying.
The mother said the child was afraid to say what had happened to her, but days later revealed that her attacker threatened to behead her if she talked about it.
The family noticed that the child had become worse and was walking with difficulty.
On checking the girl, they found her private parts oozing with pus, forcing the parents to rush her to a doctor.
