Kazibwe off for US study
KAMPALA – Former vice president Dr. Specioza Kazibwe has flown to the United States of America for studies, Court heard yesterday, after her divorce petition against Engineer Charles Kazibwe stalled due to her absence. She had been scheduled to be the opening witness in the hearing that was to start in the High Court before Justice Joseph Kibuuka-Musoke. Her lawyer Paul Sebalu said she had gone to pursue a Ph.d in medicine.

Seiko denies arrest claims
KAMPALA – CAPT. Juma Seiko and Lt. Leonard Chemonges have denied that they arrested a former campaign manager for Tingey MP Steven Chebrot. Chebrot on Friday said his former campaign manager Walter Nyangasi was arrested by ISO operatives on Wednesday. He implicated Seiko and Chemonges in the arrest.

Arinaitwe to defend self
KAMPALA – The High Court has ruled that former Makerere University student Richard Arinaitwe has a case to answer. Arinaitwe, 26, is charged with the murder. He is also serving 19 years’ imprisonment for attempted murder and robbery. High Court Judge Vincent Kagaba ruled yesterday that Prosecution had made a case against Arinaitwe.

Sh18b for community
KAMPALA – The Government is to spend sh18.5b on the extension of the Community-based Rehabilitation Programme to the whole country in the next five years. State minister for the disabled and elderly Florence Nayiga said recently that the programme would develop capacity of communities.

KCC wants income tax
KAMPALA – KAMPALA City Council (KCC) has appealed to the Central Government to authorise it collect Income Tax from people who work in the city. The Town Clerk Gordon Mwesigye on Monday said the tax will enable KCC improve the city social services.
