KAMPALA — The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, yesterday led a delegation of six MPs to Ireland for a week-long study programme. The MPs included Ben Wacha, Sarah Nyombi, Beatrice Wakimali, Ogwel Lote, Sulaiman Madada and Martin Wandera. Parliament senior public relations officer Kivumbi Kagole, said the MPs were invited by the Irish Parliament.

KAMPALA — Two members of the Namibian National Assembly are in the country for a five-day working visit to familiarise themselves with the operation of the Ugandan Parliament. Karlous Marx Shinohamba and Auguste Shali yesterday met members on the committee on legal and parliamentary affairs and deputy speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

Wobulenzi polls null
KAMPALA — The Court of Appeal on Friday nullified Wobulenzi town council LC3 election. The Electoral Commission had appealed against the High Court judgment in which Tito Ddamulira, who was elected the Wobulenzi LC3 chief, was stripped of his title. The court’s registrar, Joseph Murangira, on behalf of the appellate court, upheld the High Court decision, saying the appeal had no merit.

Bukalasa boss dead
LUWEERO — Bukalasa Agricultural College principal Julius Peter Obal died and three family members sustained injuries when their vehicle rammed into a stationary lorry on the Kampala-Gulu highway on Saturday. Bombo Police officials said the group was driving from Kampala when their minibus UG 133E crashed into a grounded Isuzu lorry UAB 723A. They were travelling in a college omni-bus.
