BOTH the public and private sectors in the country are reeling from the effects of corruption, mistrust and inefficiency, a workshop heard last week.

The State Minister for Privatisation, Prof. Peter Kasenene, disclosed this at the end of a corporate governance course attended by 42 delegates.

Kasenene said the performance of the private sector in the emerging markets and the dismantling of public monopolies had led to increased interest in good corporate governance.

He said it was appropriate to set up strategies and institutions like Uganda’s Institute of Good Corporate Governance to safeguard the principles of good corporate governance in the post-privatisation period.
