STUDENTS of Mwagalwa School of Nursing in Nakaseke, Luwero, want the Ministry of Education to act on mismanagement and poor teaching standards at the institution.

In a letter to the ministry, Uganda Nurses and Midwives’ Council and Luweero LC5 chairman, they alleged that the college lacked clinical instructors and charged them high fees of sh750,000 per semester, which was set increase to sh1.5 m next month.

They also accused the proprietor of being indifferent to their plight and not paying attention to the problems bedevilling the college, a fact they attributed to the resignation of the college secretary, the accountant and the warden.

They added the principal tutor, Dorcas Katali, was sacked last week on flimsy grounds.

When The New Vision visited the college on Friday, plain-clothes security officers and local defence personnel were guarding the campus which was deserted.
