UGANDA’S first full colour newspaper magazine, Sunday Magazine, made a triumphant entry onto the market yesterday

UGANDA’S first full colour newspaper magazine, Sunday Magazine, made a triumphant entry onto the market yesterday, reports Richard Komakech.

Thousands of people rushed to vendors to get a copy of the paper which sold out in most parts of the city.

The New Vision Circulation manager, Tom Wasswa, said the magazine was well-received and raised the sales by 15 percent.

This is despite the fact that the price of the Sunday Vision rose by sh100 with the launch of the magazine.

City circulation officer Dan Kawuma said few returns were expected.

The northern circulation manager, Roger Opigo, said the paper sold out in Arua by 11:00am, and agents in other districts like Gulu asked for more copies. He said the public had responded positively to the price rise. The same sentiments were echoed by Vision vendors throughout the country

The 36-page magazine was designed by London-based consultant David Billington and is a pullout in the Sunday Vision, Uganda’s top selling paper.
