The Central Division recently passed a three-year development plan for accessing more local government funding. The division’s chairperson, Charles Serunjongi, told an extra-ordinary council meeting at Hotel Equatoria last week this would help the division improve on its operations and maintenance strategy. He said the plan had been formulated to protect the image of the council.

Kampala Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito has advised the Government to ensure that the income from fish export is used to develop the fishing industry in the country. He advised fishermen to use acceptable fishing methods so as not to deplete the resource. He was launching a patrol boat for Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono Districts at Gaba landing site recently. The village chairman said 95% of the fishermen used illegal fishing methods.

Grade One Magistrate Moses Angualia remanded to Luzira Prison three men for impersonation and forgery. Buwembo, 30, allegedly posed as a State House operative and forestry department officer. He allegedly conspired with the Police to impound and extort money from timber dealers. His co-accused were Dagarous Ssonko, 27, and John Mukasa, 30, of Namasuba.

Kampala Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito has refuted claims by members of parliament that KCC was to blame for the narrow Wakaliga Road. He told Radio Simba listeners last week that the plan for the road were made by the Ministry of Works and the donors. He said even the tendering process was done outside KCC.
