Masaka — The district chief finance officer, Kasajja Kibondwe, has said over 80 district staff, including pensioners, had not been paid for three months. He said the district had asked for a block grant adjustment from sh136m to sh227m per month from the finance ministry. The Government recently cut the district budget by about sh800m.

One held over murder
KAYUNGA — The Police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected to have strangled his two-year-old child to death. Richard Kyobe of Nazigo sub-county, allegedly first fought with his wife, Sylivia before strangling the child.

Man sent to High Court
KAYUNGA — A man was recently sent to the High Court to face trial over defiling his eight-year-old daughter. Yona Mibulo of Kivulu Namagabi was committed by Mukono Court magistrate Najjuuko Mutebi. He was remanded in Luzira Prisons.

Baby found in pit latrine
LUWEERO — The Police on Monday retrieved a two-month-old baby from a pit-latrine in Bamunanika, where its mother had dumped it a few hours earlier. The baby was still alive. The Police arrested the mother, Alice Nakato.
