THE LC3 chairperson of Kasambya sub-county in Mubende, Kossamu Ndagire, has appealed to the Government and the Ministry of Defence to take over the land surrounding Kalama military training school and compensate the occupants.

Ndagire said the school was surrounded by families whose lives are at stake due to heavy explosions and explosive fragments that may kill them.

He was addressing residents at celebrations to mark the 41st Independence anniversary at Kirumi Public School recently.

State minister for regional cooperation Augustine Nsiimye was the chief guest.
Ndagire told the minister that military hardware manoeuvres had left two people in coma.

He said the heavy rocking explosives produce poisonous smoke and fragments that have killed several animals, and destroyed banana plantations.

Nsiimye promised to submit their proposal to the concerned authorities.
