When the AGOA scheme was launched some years ago, the AGOA girls if memory serves me correct were hailed as the darlings of Uganda. Now you are telling me they are frustrated. What is going on?
The AGOA babes are far from happy. They have been on strike for almost four days and things got to a head that Katumba-Wamala, the head of police was forced to send in his riot police to try and calm things down.

You cannot be serious! I thought the riot police were only deployed when there is a football match at Nakivubo and Express is playing FC Villa. Remember, they are just babes who sit at sewing machines, spend their leisure time putting on makeup and filing down their nails. And now they drag in the riot police to quell them?!
Just because they are babes don’t go assuming they can’t be violent. Babes these days can fight and at that quite a number of girls these days are into kung fu. With that in mind, Katumba-Wamala had every right to send in the riot police.

People just don’t go on strike for the sake of it. There has to be a valid and justifiable reason as to why 1,200 babes would lock themselves inside their hostel for two days with no food.
Well they claim they had no choice but to strike citing unclear terms of service, exploitation and poor working conditions.
They also say they have to share sanitary facilities with their male colleagues.

That is just bull! Just about everybody I know including myself and who has a job will claim they have unclear terms of service are exploited and are lumbered with poor working conditions.
But do you see me going on strike? No I sit down and negotiate.

Well good for you and so what! The AGOA babes must have been at the end of their tether. I support them in that something must be seriously wrong otherwise why would 1,200 babes go out on strike?
Your reasoning aside, do you think there might be something else that we are yet to know about that is really frustrating them? You see when the factory was opened up, if I do recall there was a presidential directive to the effect that men should not go disturbing the babes and pestering them for sex. I have a feeling that that presidential directive is beginning to affect the girls because they are ‘not getting some.’ Put yourself in their place - would you too not be frustrated about having to go months on end without getting some?
‘Getting some?’ - You have really lost me with that one

Hmm, it is just a polite way of saying their sexual needs are not being catered to. As far as I am aware there is no law in the land that says the president has the powers to stop or prevent anybody from having sex.
I’ll support you on that one but what to do, what do you advise?

The babes have gone about it the wrong way. They should have made placards with a message that read ‘we AGOA babes want to have some’ and taken to storming State House.
Once there, they strip naked. Please Mr. President lift the ban you imposed that that we could get some!’
