Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has set December 14 for its belated symposium. The National Olympics Committee Athletics Commission (NOCAC) will be formed at the meeting.

The athletes’ commission will be a fulfilment of the recommendations made by the International Olympic Committee reform commission last year.

According to UOC secretary general Gabriel Oloka, the new athletes commission would help ensure that athletes are well represented in international and national federations.

“All athletes who have participated at national and international level in an Olympic sport or have done so within the previous four years will be expected to vie for executive posts of the body,” said Oloka.

At the same convention, the UOC will also form an Olympian association, whose principle objective will be to develop the values of Olympic associations throughout the world.
