RALLY driver Jamil Kyengo has split with his long-time senior navigator Bashir Mbogo due to health reasons. Kyengo will now take on the services of female navigator Helena Alum for the 2009 season.

Kyengo, a Dubai-based businessman, said that he hadn’t got the clear reasons why Mbogo was not willing to navigate for him during the forthcoming season.

“He has always evaded me and I have only been able to talk to his friends instead of himself. So I had no other alternative but to look for another navigator,” said Kyengo said.
But when Mbogo was contacted on phone, he explained that his doctor advised him to take leave from rallying for at least two months.

“I had an operation. The doctor asked me to suspend rallying for about two months but Kyengo couldn’t take my explanations,” explained Mbogo.

Mbogo, who has navigated for Bob Roberts, Issa Numba, Ben Koyesiga, Vicent Kibudde, WO I Isma Lule and Leonard Bagarukayo added that after fully recovering, he hopes to read for rookie driver Nasser Mutebi in a Subaru Impreza N6. The season will open with the CBS Premier Sprint on February 1 in Lubiri, Mengo.
