THREE Police officers have been arrested over the shootings at Akright Kakungulu Estates over the weekend, reports Patrick Jaramogi.

An un identified man suspected to have attempted to rob from the home of Kitgum Women MP Beatrice Anywar, was killed.

The officers, Juma Magambo, Jonathan Okello and Tom Mwanje, were briefly held at Kajjansi Police station before being transferred to the Central Police Station. They were attached to the estate Police post.

Judith Nabakooba, the Police spokesperson, declined to comment on the matter and referred New Vision to the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura and the Kampala Extra Police chief, Edward Ochom. Kayihura could not be reached and Ochom declined to comment.

Anywar said: “The officers killed one thug and arrested two. But what perplexes me is why the officers who did a good job were arrested.”
