Kyenjojo LC5 chairman James Byamukama has said hatred among politicians had stifled development in the district. Byamukama said most politicians and supporters still harboured ill feelings against their opponents in the 2006 general elections.

Education, health and infrastructure, he said, were the most affected. Byamukama was addressing guests during a thanksgiving ceremony at his home in Kisojo, Kihura sub-county on Saturday.

He thanked God for the achievements he had attained and enabling him to overcome political problems. During the 2006 polls, Byamukama contested against his brother, William Kaija.

Kaija won, but Byamukama petitioned the High Court, which nullified Kaija’s victory, citing malpractices. Fresh polls were conducted in May 2007 and Byamukama won the seat.

The Bishop of Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Patrick Kyaligonza, condemned evil worship, saying it had increased crime.
